More families will qualify for free meals
Dear Parent or Guardian,
I wanted to remind you of an incredible opportunity designed to better support many of our families during these challenging fiscal times. Starting last Oct. 1, 2008, more of our families are now eligible to qualify for the state Basic Food program as income limits have increased to the 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. Those who apply and qualify for the Basic Food Program will also qualify for the free school meals program (applications for the free school meals program still need to be completed).
Families who currently qualify for reduced-price school meals are urged to apply for the Basic Food program.
"Washington State has stepped up to say that it will provide more support for families." We hope that everyone who qualifies will take advantage of this simple way to help stretch the family budget.
In addition, the more of our students who qualify and take advantage of the school meals program, the more federal money will come into our schools.
If you have any questions, please call 293-2166 ex 469.
